Cryptocurrency Salaries Triple in Popularity in 2024

In 2024, three times more people began to receive their salaries in cryptocurrency, which indicates a rapid increase in the popularity of digital assets.

Venture capital company Pantera Capital specialists surveyed more than 1,600 employees of companies from 77 countries, three of whom were Russian. 99% of respondents worked at companies whose business is related to digital assets, so the survey data reflects the situation only in the crypto industry.

After analyzing the respondents’ answers, the authors of the study found that 9,6% of them received their salaries in virtual currencies, while in 2023 this figure was only 3%. That is, the number of employees who were paid in digital assets increased more than threefold.

The following were most often transferred to workers:

1. USD Coin (USDC);
2. Tether (USDT);
3. Solana (SOL);
4. Efirium.

Cryptocurrencies in which salaries were paid

The dominance of stablecoins in virtual currency wage payments fits the industry narrative that they are the driving force. The ability of stablecoins to bridge traditional financial systems and blockchain platforms makes them a critical component of the crypto economy.

 

As stablecoins become more accessible and regulations around their use become clearer, the number of businesses using them as a means of paying salaries will increase, Pantera Capital concluded.
